I have a previous post in TigerRant about some general ideas of things to do this weekend (Vandy game) for my families first LSU game in Baton Rouge. My 12 year old son is unaware of this trip and it will be a surprise. He loves LSU Baseball (His dream baseball school) as well as the football team.

I will use this post for more specifically for food and beverage ideas.

Loose itinerary as follows:

- We decided to stay in New Orleans. This used to be my wife and I home away from home in our younger years going 2-3 times a year, (were 44) now. We haven't been in 7 or 8 years and decided to use the opportunity for a long weekend. (Friday to Monday)

Friday: Driving in to BR, will be in town around 3pm and will be going to the baseball scrimmage at 4pm. Need a quick dinner spot before heading into NOLA to check in.

Saturday: Wake up fairly early and eat breakfast at good local NOLA spot? Recommendations?
Then head to BR and spend day around campus getting ready for game. Ideas while we are there. Lunch? Chimes was high on several recommended list. Late night after game snack/drink?

Sunday all day and night and Monday morning will be spent in NOLA. Need some food suggestions. My son eats well, likes fish, etc... so no need for kiddie type meal stuff.

since you are in the WH district I would highly recommend spending a few hours at the WW2 museum and lunch or dinner at peche. Make a reservation if dinner

WJ and Peche both look amazing! Thank you for those recommendations. I also have the WWII museum on the list already. I'm not sure how fired up my wife is about that one though so we will see if it makes the cut.

Not necessarily quick, but you all might enjoy going to Walk Ons since you'll be right near it. You could go ahead and hit I-10 and get off in Gonzales. There's a Walk Ons there, a Don's seafood and some other restaurants or fast food if that meal doesn't matter.

Willa Jean is a good suggestion.

Definitely, include Peche on Sunday or Monday lunch before you leave. You might want to look at Cochon for a meal. Herbsaint is good, but would only be open for you for lunch on Monday.

Ignore your wife...the WW2 Museum is one of the best curated museums I've ever been to.

Might also want to think about getting some beignets at cafe du monde. City park location is always easier.

Yeah, it wouldn't be much fun or unique for your son since you have one.

Bearcat, Willa Jean, Two Chick's (classic diner type place) are all places open early to get a good bite.

Atchafalaya, Red Dog, The Chloe, Birdie's are all brunch places of varying but similar menus. Ruby Slipper, Surrey's, Molly's are all good, but very prepared to wait.

Lunch, stay simple and get a poboy or sandwich. Parkway, Domilise's, Turkey and Wolf (a wait), Steins, Cochon

Dinner, Peche is fish forward. Seaworthy and Luke are as well. Mosquito Supper Club if you want an experience and seafood forward.

Plates, Carmo, Gianna, Trattoria Barnett, Compere Lapin are all near you in rhe CBD.

Ruby slipper used to be one of my wifes favorites. I asked her if she wanted to go this weekend and she said she wanted to try something new. We used to also frequent a small cafe for breakfast called Jimmy J's.

I think Saturday morning when they open we will do Willa Jean and then head into BR afterwards.
