Anyone own a Springfield Prodigy? Looking for feedback regarding to problems, upgrades, optics, holsters, etc.
Holoson 507 and an extended side release probably on my list

I don't own one but a friend does.
Main issue is the recoil spring. I think it is too heavy and causes the slide to not go back enough to pick up the next round and some stove piping.
Replacing the spring fixed his and he loves the gun.

I came close to buying it. Honestly felt really good. Not noticeably different than the Staccato P I was comparing against. But did read about some issues (mostly when it first came out) and just splurged on the Staccato. A DS 1911 is a blast to shoot though.

Send it to Chambers Custom. He has a reliability package for them.

Have one myself for competitive shooting...best bang for your buck in my opinion...some TLC and you have a Staccato for half the price.
I went with a Vortex Defender ST and the extended slide release from EGWGuns.
Also got a EGWGuns ignition kit...but a buddy of mine actually tweaked his stock setup and got a lighter trigger pull...just as smooth.
One thing I did was Flitz the slide/frame area and rack it couple hundred times and got the cycle very very smooth.
There are people on that dumpster fire reddit that will tell you all of the stuff that needs to be done to it, but its all BS IMO. It really just needs some sanding/Flitz all over it and an extended slide release.
One last thing I did is put some Talon Grip tape on it cause I like rougher texture and its much cheaper than buying a $500 new metal frame with an aggressive grip.

I have a Prodigy from one of the early batches and it had all the problems I saw documented on YouTube. I sent it to Springfield and they did some polishing and tuning. Has been 100% reliable since. I have a Staccato P also, and it’s slightly better but not 2x the price better. Prodigy shoots as good as the P.
