Has anyone had a epidural steroid injection & if so would you recommend and how did it go?
I had a cervical MRI & was told I have a “small bulge at C4, C5 in the neck narrowing that tunnel where the nerve root comes out” which has caused me neck pain, arm pain, tingling in hands and hands falling asleep when sleeping on my sides. I am a bit scared of this type of injection from what I’m reading online but doctor recommended as next step in treatment

I’ve never let that hold me back.

I’ve had many in the lumbar. Relief varies. I’ve had one last 14 months. It’s temporary relief. Very routine procedure.

Not epidural but close. I’ve had steroid facet joint injections in C5 (tech neck from being a millennial with a desk job). It helped a lot with the pain but like all steroid shots—it wears off.
If you do it, use it as an opportunity to fix what was really wrong so you don’t have to depend on them. For me, getting the injection felt like it unlocked my shoulder to build some flexibility and mobility. I still have the pain, but it’s nowhere near what it was before and I’m about a year removed. Also, if you haven’t tried it, iron necks are pretty great for neck and upper back pain (between shoulder blades).

This. It's a band aid. If you feel better don't get complacent or you'll be back for more

Had a couple for C5-C7 and they either did nothing or made it a little bit worse. It was a diagnostic step to get to ACDF surgery.
