Is this an absolute deal breaker on a fast? Thoughts?

I’d avoid it, try using cinnamon instead. Those zero sugar creamers have a ton of hidden ingredients in them.

I know and agree. Its my girlfriend I am asking for really. Is it fatal to the purpose of the fast or is it just not the best option? If that makes sense

It depends on what the purpose of the fast is for. If you’re just looking to reduce calories in your diet, you can power through it although it will make it more challenging than having avoided it in the first place. Meaning it’ll get your stomach going.

I’ll let some other chime in with more scientific data

Slowly wean off of creamer and sweeteners, and once you get used to it, coffee will taste great on its own. Never thought I would be a black coffee drinker, but the wife and I started a diet program about 3 years ago, and that is what I did. I would add my normal amount of creamer and a dash of stevia or splenda to the first cup. Once I had drank half, I would top off with black coffee. So the second cup was about half of what I was used to.

If I finished that and still wanted more, it was straight black coffee with nothing added. Over about a month, I was using less and less creamer and sweetener, and eventually just started having black coffee.

There’s nothing magical about intermittent fasting, it’s just a way to help stay in a calorie deficit. You can have coffee in the morning if it’s something you like, just keep track of any sugar or creamer you use and that will come out of your daily calories.

I use a zero calorie sweetener and a tablespoon of creamer which is about 30 calories. Not sure how much butter people put in their coffee but a tablespoon is over 100 calories.

There is definitely a scientific argument this is not true.

Honey is great, but it will definitely break a fast.

Dairy most definitely has carbs in the form of lactose. Low amount of lactose but still has it.

Yeah, once you get to 12 hours, autophagy sets in (i.e. your body starts recycling your damaged/bad cells to repair itself). I personally try it aim for 14 hours. Autophagy is a good/healthy thing.
