Brian Kelly's future at LSU will be determined by talent. He has got to seriously upgrade the talent level at LSU, or he will go by the wayside. I applaud the improvement seen in players such as Swinson, Shand, Paez, Jones and others, but the fact is that these guys are not very good. Alabama's line totally dominated us.
It goes without saying that our secondary with the exception of Alexander is terrible. They are slow and are afraid to tackle. Some of them obviously did not want to take on Milroe.
Our offensive line is bad, because they cannot run block. We get virtually no push up front on running plays.
Our receivers are average or perhaps a bit better than average and apparently the young guys can't play. Taylor is an outstanding pass catcher, but he needs to improve his run blocking.
Our running backs with the exception of Durham are slow. I do respect Williams who has had a good career after being a walk-on. What is up with Jackson? I do not know.
Nussmeier has a great arm and can make some incredible throws. I hope he goes pro, because the system we want to run calls for a mobile quarterback. In fact, the classic drop back quarterback is becoming a dinosaur on the college scene.

Its different than playing Army, Navy, Boston College, Pittsburgh, USC, Michigan State,Wake Forest, Toledo.

Alabama, Ole Miss, Georgia, Texas, Tennessee, Florida, Texas A&M

It's just different talent levels

So it’s year three. If last night’s demoralizing performance is purely a function of talent, how long does BK need… in this era of portal activity and instant eligibility?

The Oline roster is nothing but four and five stars. Some may blame it on play calling, but that can ONLY be part of the problem. If you can block, things will open up. Our Oline seems to have regressed in the last three years…even with a tremendous amiunt of stability.

It’s more than talent.

I think it has to do with LSU not having the financial resources in comparison to some of the other programs. I've heard it any number of times it's not about money but then see us lose out on every top recruit. I know we're getting Underwood but that's an unusual case & we all throwing bank at him.

Don't forget that 3rd year players normally are your contributors and we only signed a 15 man class. Not giving BK an excuse but I understand him not wanting to use the portal but he needed to. Hopefully his 23, 24 and 25 class stay and we might have decent depth. frick this Next Year U you can't tell me BK didn't know this team was a 9-3 team from the start.

This is absolutely true. We cannot compete with the Texas schools and many of the other top schools in terms of money. Therefore we are behind the eight ball in terms of getting players from the portal. We are trying to supplement these deficits through high school recruiting and a graded NIL payment program where you make more each year depending on how much you play, but it’s a slow process and it takes multiple good classes to catch up. It’s obviously not working fast enough for this season (and potentially next). But because LSU is not a money rich school, it is our only hope in today’s college football landscape.
