Was underrated for its time in my opinion. Thought it was one of the better super hero movies before 2000.

I heard they were remaking it for 2026 but I couldn’t find a whole lot on it.

LINK

Who is Nicholas Galitzine? Guy they have casted as Heman. Not sure about that but ok

He-Man is clearly the start of the slippery slope of the bondage gay trope.

Frank Langella made that movie. He played it straight as Skeletor. No camp. He was the best part of the film.

I loved it as a kid.

But I never understood why they made that key master fella when they could have just used Orko.
Maybe it was a special effects problem?

Cannon definitely didn't have money for that shite. That's why the final battle is in the dark.
Also this planned sequel sounds hilarious:
quote:

Cannon Films had intended to create a Masters of the Universe sequel, indicated by the end credits with a revelation that Skeletor survives his fall. The sequel, titled Masters of the Universe 2: Revenge of the Beast, was written; the script featured He-Man returning to Earth to battle Skeletor, who had returned to Earth and possessed the body of a big business entrepreneur named Dark, taking control of the technology of Dark Industries in a new effort to take over the universe. On Skeletor's trail, He-Man was to take on the guise of a professional quarterback to pursue his enemy undercover. Pro surfer Laird Hamilton was set to replace Dolph Lundgren as He-Man

Cannon was on the verge of bankruptcy when they made Masters of the Universe. That's why the movie was set on Earth instead of Eternia. This movie was the nail in the coffin for them. I believe Cannon's next movie was supposed to Spiderman but that got cancelled.

It was a crap movie with a ridiculous plot. It’s like they have never seen a He-Man cartoon. Frank Langella is in a different movie by himself as Skeletor, and Dolph has a terrible He-Man. They couldn’t figure out Orko so they made this stupid Gwildor instead and then gave Evil-Lyn the Gobots rogues gallery to work with.

I say all of this to tell you I’ve also owned this on VHS, DVD, and Digital and based on this thread will probably watch it this weekend.
