Stock muffler on WMA's

I recently acquired a Copperhead SD motor that has a MAC aftermarket performance muffler. I was told that if you run a mud motor on a WMA that allows them you will have to have a stock muffler on the engine. Can anyone confirm if these laws are actually being enforced (In particular on PRWMA in LA)? And if so; anybody got a used stock muffler they care to part with? I look up a new unit and they ain't cheap.

Outboards are cooler and quieter

Is it louder than a stock muffler? I'm assuming the law is to prevent even more excessively loud motors? So if the muffler is more quiet it would be allowed, if not it won't?

"THE FOLLOWING ARE PROHIBITED ON WMAS
***
Operation of a powercraft with an altered muffler or muffler
cutout or in a manner that bypasses or reduces the effectiveness
of the muffler system."
See pg49 of Louisiana Hunting Regulations.

Side note: mud motors are a useful tool; however, are widely abused especially on public lands.

For the record: my son bought a boat that has the CH SD motor on it. He intends to put a conventional 40HP outboard and sell the CH. But until he does, we plan to run the CH on our PRIVATE lease in Delacroix. I hate how loud they are too; but until he sells it, we will use it. The reference to PRWMA was strictly because we live nearby, and he wanted to go run the boat without anybody writing him a ticket.

Outboard is generally safer and better option IMO. Surface drives are nice, but you're constantly work on them and, as noted before, I think they are used excessively and truly a nuisance on public lands now.
Glad to hear y'all are going with a 40hp outboard. It will also open your son's opportunities to hunting/fishing federal lands (Big Branch/Bayou Sauv/ biloxi marsh/etc) that do not allow air cooled engines.
