one of my favorite tigers all-time, but for whatever reason LL doesnt get many INT's.

he ran 4.35 at the combine and is a ball hawk.

I htink he is trying to lay the wood more often than not.

I never thought he played the ball that well, and I've seen him drop few as well. Always more extra guy in the box/ blitzer than CF type safety IMO

He's just not that good compared to Ed Reed or Sean Taylor.

Even when he was at LSU, he didn't get many INTs. His ability to defend pass is not that good. He plays run well and he tackles well.

He's a head hunter.

He did improve on his pass defense quite a bit from last year, but his tackles went way down as well.

Last year he only had 6 pass breakups and 0 INT. This year had 11 pass breakups and 2 INT (which aren't bad numbers for a safety, just nothing to write home about). Although he went down from 95 tackles to 65 tackles.

That's because he is the best safety in football and is considerably better than Laron.

Ed Reed is just unbeliveable.

11 INT this year incl. the playoff game.

True, but I was doing the most direct comparison possible considering Washington didn't make the playoffs this year.

No he doesn't. He plays for the interception. Someone posted Reed and Polamalu's stats. In a lot fewer games Polamalu had more tackles, but a third of the interceptions Reed had.

Of course Reed is going to make fewer tackles. He plays with a much better defense, so he has fewer opportunities to make tackles as a safety.

He played SS for half of last year before Taylor was killed.

He is honestly playing out of position. He is a SS in the NFL.

Landry/Taylor would have been one of the two best Safety combos in the nation.

His brother and Reed would be the other one.

Because LaRon has terrible ball skills? He lays the wood and is incredibly athletic, and because of this I think he never focused on ball skills as much.

Basically look at Taylor Mays at USC this year. They're the same type of player, but LaRon is more of a "football player" instead of an athlete. Both rely on athleticism and big hits instead of ball skills/coverage though.

His ball skills aren't great but they are at least average for a NFL safety.
