Battling diverticulitis/colitis that has caused a blockage in the colon.

My dad had the same issue at nearly the same age and I’ll have the same surgery.

I’m down 20 lbs since it has been impossible to eat the last 5 weeks and I’ll lose another 5-10 after surgery. I’m at a weight I haven’t seen in 30 years.

Working out will be a no-go for 6-8 weeks after so around 12/1.

How fast can I rebuild what I have lost?

I wouldn't ask that question yet. You won't know what you've lost until 12/1, or thereabouts, and you won't know what kind of you that you'll be working with at that point. I think it's impossible to answer a question like that, and unnecessarily aggravating. I would focus on something that is more immediate, like how best to prepare yourself for post op recovery. Once you're in those 6-8 weeks you'll have plenty of time to reassess your mind and body, figure out where you are and put a plan together to get yourself back to a point you're comfortable again.

I’m battling this same thing. My colon perforated in April and formed a small abscess. I didn’t have a blockage but this has been a battle. I went the supplement path for months and I’m pretty much back to normal
But there are still
Some issues. I haven’t committed to having surgery but they want to take out about 10 inches of my distal colon.

What caused the flair up? Ask because I was diagnosed with diverticula a year or so but haven’t had much trouble as long as I as I keep things moving.

I have Crohn’s and diverticulosis throughout my colon. Perforated a couple years ago with a bout of diverticulitis. Had emergency surgery and woke up with an ileostomy bag. Luckily was able to get the bag taken down after 3 months, and all the diseased colon was removed and now in remission. Good luck and don’t over do it.

Since my surgery, I have had some malabsorption issues. After lots of bloodwork, I found what supplements I needed to add and gaining weight hasn’t been a problem. I was back to good weight and original strength within a year from the surgery.

No idea.

The frequency increased with this one, starting as a change in bowel movements a few months ago, to an eventual stricture.

Up at 3:30 after surgery. Sore and can’t sleep but it went well.

I have a nice c-section scar.

Ended up down nearly 30 lbs since mid-August and with no clearance for lifting until 12/1 or I run the risk of a hernia.

Goal is to not add more than 10lbs between now and then so I don’t add any bad weight.

Sucks to be at my weight from 30 years ago.
