request a certificate of insurance be emailed to you directly from their agent.

1) Have certificate holder made out to you
2) Ask them to have tree cutting and tree pruning in the description of operations. Verify both GL and WC policies are on certificate
3) You can verify active status of their work comp on the la work force website in addition

Thanks.

Any recommendations for the Assumption, St Mary’s, west Ascension would be appreciated from baws, I’m on Belle River. I’ve got a couple calls in but the more the better

Anybody ever had dealings with LSU Ag and Live Oak evaluations. People tell me this but got no specifics. I’m about to start calling but aggravation avoided at my age is prudent for mental stability.

Yeah, I know. That’s why I asked for recommendations from experience. Not a fan of picking a name off a list and hoping for the best.

THIS. I had a sub I used for years and years who had their insurance company submit a certificate made out to my company to me. Turns out the sub was making them himself and sending them out as the insurance company. It was never a problem for me but a general contractor I did business with did business with the same sub and during a WC audit the auditor caught it. Would have been a mess had something happened. Truly troubling part is the sub was a "legit" company, sizeable bonding capacity, state licensed, who had been in business for years and is still in business. Had been sending those bogus certificates to people for years and years. Have no idea but his bonding may have been equally bogus, license was and is legit and still active.

You/Your work comp policy/ your carrier would have paid the price of the consequences of the claim. Happened to one of my guys before. Their emod went to shite on a paid claim with a bogus coi.

Apparently it is pretty common. Who comes up with an idea like that? Folks are something else....

Don't worry about their insurance. Pay cash for 75% less and your homeowner's will cover any claim.

Louisiana Dept of Agriculture is who you need to contact. I doubt that they will recommend someone to you but they definitely will see if the company that quoted you is licensed and legal to do your job. And if they are not legit, then they will be happy to go issue a citation which could possibly lead to a fine.
