Why do you say that?
After four games it’s obvious to me that we aren’t going to run a decent defense into the ground.

Well we’re soft AF so there;s that

If you haven’t figured it out by now. LSU IS A BAD FOOTBALL TEAM!!!

They have a defense.

That’s been my biggest complaint about LSU since Brian Kelly has been here.
I’m really hoping it’s not a reflection of BK and that he’s going to get that fixed.
But we all have noticed the trend of getting behind by double digits early in big games because LSU players come out NOT mentally prepared to play football.
I mean just look at the defense. How many times do we see a guy in the open field miss tackles? Or offensive linemen get man handled off of their attempted run blocks?
That is PURE soft.
Even Perkins injury play. After watching it a few times it looks obvious that he got injured during contact or from contact.
Well he just tried to knock him over with his shoulder. ZERO attempt to wrap him up or make any kind of a fundamentally sound tackle. And darn near got ran over by a WR.
That is SOFT!!!

We were incredibly conservative on offense and terrible on defense. I'm surprised we only lost by 7.
We should beat USC but got outcoached and their players were better prepared.

I’d say this dates back to immediately following the 2019 season. When have we been the more physical team since then? Maybe a game or 2 here and there but Ucla manhandled us in 2021.
It’s frustrating to see us beaten at the line on both side more often than not.

The crazy thing is BK was well known for great offensive lines at Notre Dame.
He knows how to find good offensive linemen. Maybe those midwestern boys are just better.

Team is weak. Physically weak.

Agreed, but this is the line he kind of inherited. I’m holding out hope that the guys he’s hauling in are a bit meaner, road graders. We do pass block well but we are not a aggressive, dominant line.

If you want to run the ball like Michigan, the LSU needs to hire a Meeechigan man. Oh wait they did already, he won a NC and had great running backs along with a strong defense.

Oddly enough Bama 2021

Yes. Great at beating mediocre and bad teams. But could never beat SEC teams.

Yeah, there is definitely a soft element to parts of this team. Not everyone, but it’s a problem, especially when it’s upperclassmen who should be leaders.
One thing I find odd about this is that, while BK’s ND teams usually lacked elite athleticism, they were never thought of as soft after maybe year two. They were generally considered to be very tough and smart. They beat two LSU teams in 2014 and 2016 and certainly were physical on defense and in the run game. I also follow Memphis and remember when Kelly coached Cincy. They were definitely a much more physical football team than other G5-level programs after he got them going.
The bottom line is it has to be fixed, whatever the cause. But soft teams definitely haven’t been typical for Kelly in the past.

If we would have played them at LSU in Baton Rouge, we would’ve done the same thing. It’s just the thing about having to play the first game across country at a neutral stadium. We will be OK.

Early on, sure. Not so much from 2014 until the end. That 2015 team was soft as frick down the stretch and we were just as soft vs Wisconsin and Auburn in 2016.

Yes. Great at beating mediocre and bad teams. But could never beat SEC teams.
