The guy has been at Tenn since 1994 as their Defensive Line coach and if you look at all the great players that have come from there and how well they have played at the College level, I would say that from a common sense stand point that his coaching abilities would seem to speak for itself?

But don't they have a DT and a DE coach? Makes me wonder if one is there mainly for recruiting and the other is the DL coach.

I have no idea but He has been there since 94 so he's been there for a long time and he's been the D Line coach the entire time he has been there. I'm sure the guy is a great recruiter or he wouldn't have made it as long as he has at this big time level of college football, thats common sense. He is a Carolina guy if you look at his profile. He was the D Line at Florida from 1983-1987 and then held the same position at UNC from 1988-1993. His hometown is Sparta, NC and he graduated from Western Carolina University. If anything him having Carolina's background would be nice because the Carolina's always put out top flight talent year in and year out, it would be nice to spread LSU's influence into that part of the country for sure. LSU already recruits well in Florida and has for quiet sometime. LSU is a household name in the sunshine state.

I always thought Brooks was a solid coach. Our Defensive Line was always reliable.

I think your players will enjoy playing with him. He is a players-coach and is a man of faith.

Slow down. He doesn't have the job and might not get a look.

O, for some reason I thought he was already on board with Chief....

If Chief does bring someone from UT to LSU, hope it is Brooks and NOT Larry Slade.

It's pretty much accepted that if Chief gets to bring one person with him it will be Brooks.

He might not get the chance though. There seems to be a few guys in line for the DL job already.

Brooks is a very solid coach, he's coached some great ones. Henderson, Haynesworth, Mahelona, Harrell, Walker.

Bill Johnson would be great and Pete Jenkins has been with the Eagles for the last few years. Although Ole Pete would be a great pick up indeed I just don't see him with his age coming back to TigerTown for his 3rd tour of duty here. I know he didn't enjoy all the recruiting he had to do when he was here because he had to keep late nights and he doesn't really enjoy that with his age. NFL season when it's over it's over and you get a good amount of time off unlike College where it's an all year around job. Would love to have Pete but his name has been used as mere speculation on here because he has coached here twice before and loves LSU.

Brooks is a solid coach. He has alot of ties in NC/SC. But UT hasn't had the success getting those players of late since Butch Davis/John Blake came along at UNC. The main problem with our Defense has been the lack of talent in the front four compared to years past. LA produces alot more big time Defensive linemen. So it should be a little easier recruiting those players for him there. He is a very good football coach but average recruiter. I actually think he would do a good job at LSU.

This is patently false, NFL is a much stronger grind, no limits on time.

Darwin Walker, Shaun Ellis, John Henderson, Albert Haynesworth, Leonard Little, Will Overstreet, Aubrayo Franklin, Demetrin Veal, Jesse Maholona, Justin Harrell, Tony McDaniel, Turk McBride, that is just a few that Dan Brooks has coached...And as far as a GOOD MAN...You can't beat Dan Brooks..Great Defensive line coach...IMO Steve Caldwell was SAID to coach Defensive Ends...but Brooks was the man IMO..And Chavis for all his GOING INTO HIS PREVENT when he gets the lead is a damn good lb's coach...Jerod Mayo just won NFL defensive rookie of the year...and UT turned out some good ones under Chavis...Al Wilson, Raynoch Thompson, Eric Westmoreland, Eddie Moore, Kevin Burnett..Omar Gaither, Parys Harrelson,
