The Fake Punt..

CLASSLESS.
You're winning by 30+ points and have the game in your pocket. It was unnecessary, and pointless.

That's something Pete Carroll would do.

BTW - we didn't score on that drive either.

class is giving to a worthy charity, helping out a sick child, stopping to hold the door for an old women...this is football.

When Joe Gibbs told his QB to kneel down instead of trying to score at the end of a game vs. Detroit, Chris Speilman called timeout. He didn't want Gibbs pity.

Its called ball control and not giving your opponent an opportunity to score and try and get back in the game. Do you think GT would have simply thrown in the towel had Les punted. No. They would have tried to score quickly and then maybe an onside kick to get the ball back and try to score quickly again. LSU should not get into the habit of only playing 45 minutes of football regardless of the score.

You throw out "Classless" ?

You are not LSU. You are a pissant who never lined up a day in your life in pads.

When you look up "Rantard" in the dictionary your picture is there.

a) When you're up by tons of points your strategy should be to kill clock. You have to be on offense to do that.
b) The reason Les is so successful with fakes is that he does them when they are least expected. I'd say no one expected that one

It was thus a perfect call. If Les wanted to be classless - he would have run up the score - not merely attempted to control the ball and kill clock.

How classless - we put up THREE points on the in the 2nd half

Some of you guys need to learn the definition of "classy".

class·y (kls)
adj. class·i·er, class·i·est Informal
Highly stylish; elegant.

That has nothing to do with football.

I think the term you're looking for is sportsmanship. Conduct and attitude considered as befitting participants in sports, especially fair play, courtesy, striving spirit, and grace in losing.

IMO, poor sportsmanship would be thuggish behavior, bragging, taunting or possibly calling time out with a 30 point lead and 1 minute to play so that you can score one last time.

There is nothing unsportsmanslike about running 4 plays rather than 3 and punt.

It was very Bob Stoops like. Earlier this season, when OU was still throwing late in their games, many fans on this board were critisizing Stoops' lack of sportsmanship in running up the scores.
Miles is no different. It was a piece of shite move. The game was already in hand and GT had no shot of getting back in it.
IF Miles' intent was to control the clock, he'd have been running the ball.
I have to laugh when our fans label Miles as a classy guy yet call Meyer, Carrol, & Stoops arrogant jerks.

Pete Carroll???

The guy went an entire half not passing the ball once.

He always pulls his starters, sometimes as early as the 3rd quarter.

Try to take an unbiased approach, it helps.
