Need to go at least 5-2 this week. Having Sale on the mound is a good way to start.

Sale is the first lefty in franchise history to have 200 strikeouts in a season. This is a franchise who has had guys like Warren Spahn and Tom Glavine on the mound.

2 at Gnats
3 at Reds & 3 at Miami consecutively

that's it for the road games - all 3 relatively close to home - and against teams who aren't headed to post-season and already getting some of their young prospects some big league ABs to gauge for the future -

Dodgers for 4 and mets for 3 the two toughest home series -

at no point has this team been able to be trusted to handle its business scoring runs this season - so we know how it could go -

pitching has been at a high level since the AS break to stay in it -

it will be interesting to watch how Snit brings Ozzie back into the lineup -

and on cue Merrifield singles and then scores from first on a double by Gio -

I'm gonna tell myself it's the drop in temps/humidity tonight affecting those numbers

that was an impressive T6 for Sale and Harris to end the inning - hopefully he's done with just over 80 thrown tonight up 2-0 -

Pretty interesting choice stair-stepping up a semitone in the middle of God Bless America. I didn't hate it

Merrifield has a point. Just got drilled in the head by a nobody pitcher bc these types up hotshots come up and just try to throw heat and have no control. Whitt absolutely was justified. It’s one of many many issues with the game now

None of this is intentional. Intentionally hitting someone because someone was unintentionally hit is some of the dumbest shite in the game.

They never will. We “aren’t that type organization”.
That one deserves a slow lob to the back though for sure. Especially how that nobody pitcher responded to drilling WM in the back of the head.

Fair enough, but it does get tiresome ya know?
Part of the evolution of the game I reckon

Sure it sucks getting dudes hit, but what does retaliating do besides our pitcher getting ejected and possibly suspended?

Again, it’s bad luck on our part, but it’s not intentional.

Even EOF has said a few times on 755 Is Real (RIP) that if it keeps happening, intentional or not, you eventually have to retaliate because guys need to know they should be able to control their pitches at the major league level. He seems about as even keeled as it gets.

Guys aren’t going to stop pitching inside because we hit someone.

Remember that Gausman retaliated against Miami and then Ronnie was hit again in the next series against them.

Again, the “need to retaliate” is some of the most meathead shite in the sport and it never actually fixes anything.

I can maybe see an upside here if it's Luke Jackson suspended so Snit can't call his number
