Trump comes out against Florida's abortion rights measure after conservative backlash.

Former President Donald Trump came out on Friday against a ballot measure in his home state of Florida that would expand access to abortion, after spending a day doing damage control on the issue.
His announcement came a day after telling NBC News that Florida’s six-week ban is “too short” and declining to take a clear stance on a state ballot measure that would expand access to the procedure.
On Friday, Trump said, once again, that women need "more time" than six weeks to decide whether to have an abortion, but that the "Democrats are radical" and he couldn't back the amendment.
“So I think six weeks, you need more time than six weeks. I’ve disagreed with that right from the early primaries when I heard about it, I disagreed with it,” Trump said in comments to Fox News. “At the same time, the Democrats are radical, because the nine months is just a ridiculous situation where you can do an abortion in the ninth month. ... So I’ll be voting no for that reason.”
The proposed amendment would bar restrictions on abortion before fetal viability, around the 24th week of pregnancy, while ensuring exceptions to protect the health of the mother.
The backlash from anti-abortion advocates was fierce after Trump's interview with NBC News, with some warning that the Republican presidential nominee was risking losing support from a key bloc of the party’s base.
Alarmed by what she saw, Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the influential anti-abortion group Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, called Trump on Thursday to ask for clarity on his comments, according to a source with knowledge of the conversation. Trump told her that he didn’t state a position on an amendment on his home state’s ballot this fall.
Dannenfelser told him that “it’s imperative that you’re clear because there’s confusion now that you may be in support of this,” the source added. She also told him the amendment is “incongruent” with his opposition to late-term abortion.
During the interview with NBC News, Trump said, “I am going to be voting that we need more than six weeks,” when asked how he would vote on the ballot measure. It's unclear what he meant as the Florida initiative gives voters a binary choice.

The only right answer is for the federal government to be out of abortion completely. There is no consensus among the people, among scientists, doctors, ethicists, etc. You will find the word 'abortion' in the budget documents of many government agencies. Every position, every office, every dollar related to abortion at the federal level should be gone. It's a state issue.
Trump is an idiot for even attempting to deal with this. Imagine what he'd say if Miriam Adelson came out and said she wanted gun control.

I agree but Trump is a Florida resident voting on a state issue

Actually it’s a human issue
Then get the humans that live in each state to decide...as it should be.

And there’s already a thread on this

A compromise of there being a heartbeat seems reasonable.

8 or 9 weeks is past turning back.

Once again, his undisciplined mouth gets him in trouble. He says "Six weeks isn't enough." when commenting on an amendment that would make it legal up to birth and doesn't expand on his comment at all.
After 9 years one would think he would learn...

Yeh, we should just stay home and let kamala win!

Confusion by who?
This is completely manufactured.

This is the way.
6 weeks is absolutely insane.
Sweet spot is ~20 weeks - anatomy/viability scan performed at 20 weeks.
Ensure you and your baby is healthy. If not, it’s your last out especially after knowing your baby is healthy.

It think 10-12 weeks while hard for some to digest is a reasonable compromise. It guarantees for almost all women two missed periods and in some religious circles is before when it is believed God binds a soul to the fetus. I think you need the exceptions in there for the health of the mother. In the cases of rape and incest, 12 weeks is more than enough time for them to know they are pregnant and make that decision.
Let me be clear, I am personally against abortion. I just think some reasonable compromise is what is best to move forward and avoid worse consequences for those children and this country as a whole.
Also, I am against a national ban or even law. I agree it should be a states right issue.
One last thing to remember is that she counting pregnancy weeks, it is not actually weeks from conception, but from the previous missed period, which is roughly 2 weeks before conception can generally occur. So 6 weeks is actually only 4 weeks since conception.

In the cases of rape
If you've been raped, report it and get a morning after pill while doing the rape kit.
That exception has always bothered me not because it's abortion, but because it shouldn't need to be an exception.

While I understand that thought process, someone following a rape is not always in the most appropriate mindset. It is tragic and traumatic experience that can be gutting to the soul. Your point is optimal of course if it can be done, but there are going to be instances where the mental and emotional state of the victim will not permit it.

Every single one of these law proposals have exceptions built in. All of them. This is clickbait bullshite media narrative to swing dumb cunt female voters to the democrat side. 100%.
