My dad & uncle bought a place in Pass Christian (on Bayou Mallini) around May.

We saw a jellyfish by our dock. We then went out in water in the Bayou Portage area, and 2 of us got stung pretty good. We have been out in the water numerous times, and this is the first time we saw jellyfish or have been stung.

Being new to the area, is this a common thing or is it somewhat seasonal/cyclical? We see lots of people hanging out by the beach on the Bay St. Louis side - are jellyfish common there? Appreciate any info!

It’s seasonal for sure. Late summer is the time for it.

It's infrequent, nothing to worry about.

It's a late summer thing. Take the boat to a sandbar up the Jourdan or Wolf
