I have a situation where I paid a guy a nice chunk of money to do all kinds of stuff to my boat. I was a total idiot and paid up front.

5 years later barely anything has been done to the boat, so I'm getting my ducks in a row to get this settled. For some reason, the emails that contained two invoices that were paid, one for the boat, and another for the engines, are completely gone.

Could they have been erased from his end? How can I find those old emails?

Only his copies, nothing already delivered to you.

The built in search should find them if they were not deleted. I had to use an old gmail account the other day and I used the search to find emails from 2006.

Thanks for the reply. I remember a year or so ago that I could search old emails and it would come up. Now, nothing.

Check to see if there are any filters on your search. I haven't used Gmail in a long time, but I know Outlook desktop search initially limits the search to 90 days, and you have to click a link to search to the deepest innards of your archives.

That's weird that you can't find them now. I will say that, ironically, search within Gmail is COMICALLY inferior to a Google search of the web. I suppose I get the technical reasons why that's true, but it's still frustrating.

I'm sure you have, but try every which way you can to search for them. It's not uncommon for me to have things pop up after not having popped up in searches where I was certain it would have found what I was looking for.

On the left have you opened "more" > "All Mail" and then performed the search? You can also click advanced search on the top right after doing that
