Vegas Poker Rooms

Are there any decent Poker Rooms that cater to Beginner/Intermediate players? I've never played in a tournament outside of friends/baw get togethers. Would love to get in on say a $100 buy in .

Ooh something I’m an expert in for once.
The regular tournament schedules are sometimes subject to major events, but they have a pretty constant schedule and those are usually at higher end rooms like the Wynn and Venetian.
Horseshoe has multiple 100 dollar tournaments per day and they go pretty quickly with the blinds so you’re not going to play more than 3 or 4 hours even if you cash.
Caesars Palace has some 160 dollar tournaments.
MGM Grand has some around that but they have add ons where you need to pay more for more chips during the break. Your odds of cashing without the add on are very low.
Orleans is a good room with low buyins but they last quite a long time and it’s off the strip.
The Sahara, Westgate, and Mandalay Bay have tourneys for even less than a 100 bucks but sometimes they are lucky to get ten players so I don’t recommend those unless you are at the hotel already. Sahara frequently doesn’t have enough players to run their tournaments, MB and Westgate are better bets.
Go to Poker Atlas and you can see what tournaments are running when.

I played poker in Vegas for the first time a couple of years ago at Planet Hollywood. The poker room was nothing great...it was actually in a weird spot underneath the escalators that I had a hard time finding, but it was lowkey/low pressure and we had a good time with others who didn't seem to know what they were doing either.

Planet Hollywood doesn’t even have a poker room anymore. A bunch have closed and a few are barely hanging on.
There’s just no money in operating a poker room, it’s basically a tool to bring in people or their friends and family to play machines. Some of these low buyin tournaments are operating at a loss.

I’ve played tournaments at Wynn, Bellagio, Paris and Aria. Bellagio and Aria are my favorites. Wynn was very nice but more expensive to play. Paris wasn’t very nice at all. You will learn a lot regardless of where you play. You will sit at the same table with beginners up to great players. Don’t be intimidated. They all will try to do that. I don’t play often but have done well there. Play what you know, not how the others try to steer you.

Thanks for the post. Would be great if we could get some Tiger fans together at one of the poker rooms labor day weekend.

Download the Bravo poker app on your phone.
You can click on whichever casino you are interested in and it will tell you which live games are going at the moment but it will also tell you what tournaments the poker room usually runs.
e.g. looks like Aria in Vegas currently has 18 live games running now from 1-3 NLHE to 25-25 PLO.
Also says that they have daily tournaments w/$160 buy in. Sometimes the info is not 100% correct but you normally get up to date info for whatever card room you are interested in.
This is also good to check what local cardrooms are spreading like L'Auberge, Beau Rivage, etc.

Bravo Poker is good for tracking cash games, Poker Atlas is better for tournaments

Apparently Caesars Palace’s poker room is closed during a renovation so scratch that off the list.

I went about two years ago on July 4th weekend and had a good time playing cash games at The Venetian. $1/$3 was loaded with beginners.
Like others have said, download the apps Poker ATLAS and Bravo Poker. Those will help tell you which games are running and how full they are.

I’ve read one of the reasons for the lower interest in poker recently is because of the team of players that “talk” to each throughout tournaments, screwing the average guy..
