Driver for beginner

As a beginner, I’m using a 2012 Cobra Amp 10.5 regular flex. This still okay to be swinging or would it be wise to get something newer? I slice the hell out of my driver

Driver tech has came a long way since 2012 but as a beginner it’s just fine for learning to play.
A new driver doesn’t fix swing path issues but like new putters they sure make you feel better on the trip from the store to the course.

If you must have a newer driver instead of lessons check out a well equipped used Ping G series SFT model.

Any of the Ping G drivers since the g25 series will be very forgiving. But I agree with other poster(s) suggesting sticking with what you have till you feel like it's hurting your game.

To echo everyone else, the new drivers are very forgiving. My G425 max is so easy to hit. That said it’s not going to fix a big slice. A slice isn’t that difficult to fix. You’d spend less on a couple of lessons and fix the problem than buying a new driver that’s not going to help you out much. If a shaft is too weak it could cause a slice. But if your new to golf it’s probably not the shaft. Quick fix, strengthen your grip. That should help you out some.

I played Cobra Amp woods and hybrids for awhile and always found them pretty easy to hit as long as you do 2 things:
(1) Set the head for the lie angle that works for you and don't worry about what the loft setting is. The D settings are more upright and should help your slice. I couldn't hit the 5-7 wood until I set it for 19D. None of the other settings worked for me at all. But on the 3-4 hybrid, the 22 setting was the best for me. So you'll have to tinker a bit.
(2) The Amp Pad on the sole actually does what Cobra says it does. Sole the club on the ground, then grip the club. Tom Wishon says that adjustable head clubs should never be soled before gripping, but that's not the case for the Cobra Amp Cells.
HSAT, the Amp Cell line is pretty old tech now. I switched over to Cobra Air-X woods a year ago. I'm still hitting a Cobra F-Max driver at 11.5 very well. I'd suggest giving those a try to see if it works better for you.

Like others have stated the Ping SFT would be the ticket if you don't really want to or have the time to practice hitting it straight.. a buddy of mine plays one and he's got a way more serviceable drive with that club..
I have a Frankenstein of a driver that's damn near anti-slice that i keep around... Its a Ping GLE 2 head mated to a Ping Alta CB Stiff flex shaft set at 13 degrees of loft... It's absolutely insane to hit.. and really hard to slice.. it's pretty much a diy SFT

I think you may get a discount on your insurance if you take drivers ed.
