I know at least one, maybe both of the Lopez brothers are gone, but I see they are undefeated and trounced Texas Tech 111-66 last night.

Did Trent leave them with that much talent or did Hoosier Daddy not do his boy any favors with the team he left them.

Looking at some of Tech's other games I tend to think more of the latter.

Why did he leave Stanford? Money? Is he a LSU guy?

LSU pays better than Stanford, and the academic standards are lower at LSU so you can recruit from a larger pool of athletes.

From what I've heard him say, doesn't think he can get the athletes at Stanford to consistently compete at the highest level. Academic restrictions there being the biggest obstacle from what I gather.

Yeah, but Stanford has had a solid basketball program for a while now. I haven't looked at any numbers, but off the top of my head Stanford has been better than LSU since I was a kid I think.

So really, it just comes down to the pay check.

Brevin Knight, Arthur Lee, Josh Childress, Jason Collins, the Lopez twins, and they have some hispanic guard this year who's pretty good. Stanford can land good players.

I think the "to compete at a consistently high level" might be the operative phrase.

I get the impression he feels he'll have a better chance at that here. I'm sure the paycheck didn't hurt.

stanford is undefeated because they have johnny dawkins as a coach. You better believe he learned a thing or two from coaching and playing under coach k all theese years

I'm sure he's a good coach, but I haven't looked at their schedule. To early to "knight" him. Not all of K's disciples have been successful.

Tubby's undefeated at Minnesota too BTW, including a victory of Pitino and Louisville.

not saying he's going to lead them to a nc this year or anything, but ive been following duke basketball all my life and i can tell you that johnny wont be another coach k disciple bust. He's the real deal and i know he will bring stanford back to being a consistant top tier team

As an old friend says "Time reveals all truths".

We shall see.

I personally hope for selfish reasons that part of his early success was the foundation left by Trent. But again, I don't know enough about Trent to this point either.

I do think he'll do better than Amaker and Snyder, but it'd be hard not to.

I watched the Texas Tech game last night and I was very impressed with the teams play. Beat them by 45 points.

Trent definitely left because of the money and the strict academic standards when it came to recruiting. I heard a talk from our president about football and academic standards and he said that as long as Stanford made it to a bowl every couple years and the players graduated he was satisfied. No need for letting students in with sub par academic just to create a national powerhouse in football.

With this type of attitude it created a hard environment for Trent to "bend" the academic guidelines and recruit many exceptional players like he can at LSU.

GO CARDINAL!!!!

dont get me wrong, trent is a good coach and left jd in a good situation, but i guess being a huge duke fan and a former cameron crazie i feel he will be successful. I hope trent can turn lsu's progra around, he's done a good job so far

LSU went to a Final Four 2 years ago and won 2 SEC titles in a seven year span, When did Stanford last make the Final Four or win a conference title?

How long has it been since you were a kid?

Both Lopez twins are gone but what doesn't get talked about is the amount of experience and veterans they have on the team this year. They have 4 seniors and 5 juniors.
