Is there any conversation about making the long putter illegal?

In professional tournaments you can’t anchor it, but still legal otherwise if I remember correctly.

It’s just like anything when it comes to putting. There’s no universal “this is the best” way. Everyone is different when it comes to the most important part of the game.

I have a bad back. I’ve thought about a broomstick for awhile.

Nope, you’re the first person to ever mention it

I don't have back issues, but practicing putting for 20 minutes with a normal putter will make you feel it. I've wondered if a broomstick would be good to start young and avoid issues.

On a related note, I have no idea how most field hockey players don't have back issues. It was the first thing I noticed when I turned it on this weekend.

It's a crutch for bad putting fundamentals. Learn to hit a normal length putter and save yourself the embarrassment of having a 10' stick in your bag.
