Humminbird Helix 12

Took over ownership of my dad's boat and it has a Helix 12 that he bought cheap from a family member. He/we never really used it to its full capabilities. Looking at getting a map card for it and wanted some real world advice. Anyone have experience with Humminbird Coastmaster vs Navionics vs Navionics Premium? Mainly fish Venice and Grand Isle inshore.
Edit: Just did a software update and realized it already has the Lakemaster LA Delta card. Would one of the other ones listed be better?

Does your La delta card still work after updating the software? I’ve read that some people had issues with their cards after updating the unit so I’ve never updated my helix.
As to the card, I didn’t realize the imagery was from 2015, but I find it works well for the hopedale/shell beach/delacroix area. I’d be interested to see what the Navionics cards look like compared to the la delta card, but I don’t know anyone who has one in their humminbird unit.

Definitely surprised Ariel footage has not been updated since 2015!

I bought a black market Google earth map card for 100 bucks. It just doesn’t have contour or bouy markers. Gotta lay tracks and save them

Yes, they say the card will get overwritten if you leave it in when you put the software update in. So I took it out and then put it back in after the update.
You have to go to the product resources page and do some digging to find the imagery date. Found that tip on another forum. It's pretty different in the Venice area.
Black market card? Seems like you could have both loaded and toggle between when you need each one for their specific info.

Thanks for the tip on upgrading software. If it’s the “black market” card that you can make yourself they will not work for humminbird as I understand it. I’ve made one for a lowrance/simrad, but humminbird uses a different format from those two.

If you already have Lakemaster then Navionics lets you look at their maps: navionics_chart_viewer so you can compare the two and decide which one you like better. In the Navionics chartview link go to "Menu" at the bottom, then "Map Options" to toggle satellite/aerial view. But keep in mind your Helix screen resolution might not be as good as your computer screen's.
