I’m flying into Heathrow, going through Oxford, and need to buy cheapish camping gear, since I will have to ditch or donate it after the week. Is ASDA like Wal-Mart, or is it just groceries? Suggestions?

It’s more like a grocery store, not a guarantee they will have camping gear. See if there is a Go Outdoors nearby.

I’m not there yet. If I were there, I’d just go see for myself, lol.

England has fallen to Radical Islam. I wish you the best but get out as soon as you can

It’s a weird trip. Camping at a festival part of the time, nice hotels part of the time. Obviously I’m not hauling suitcases of camping gear over there and back, so we figured we buy cheapish stuff and give it away when we’re done.

Very aware. Heathrow is as close to London as we’re getting. Oxford will be the only city. The rest of the time will be spent in rural areas. If things don’t turn around, it’ll be the last time we go to Europe.

ASDA is basically just groceries, I would find a store that specializes in outdoors stuff for this. For cheap random things in England I recommend trying to find an Argos because there's no telling what they have that might be able to help.

We’ve thought of that, but it would be kind of a lot for them to hold. Tent, air mattress, ice chest, etc. I’m not sure how amenable they’d be to that. Also don’t want to trust that it’ll be there and wind up sleeping in my little Euro car…

I would suggest you go to where ever last week's festival was because hundreds of tents are abandoned after every festival.

Check out Bawfordshire. It’s kind like Bawcomville but British.
