If so, how was it? Would it be a good couples get away or too many kids?

We went last 4th of July and, as you would expect, a ton of kids.

I don't think it would be a great place for a couples getaway considering it's a large resort that caters to families.

If you can get to Fredericksburg or Kerrville, then those would be much better options...IMHO.

Do you know of any couples resorts that also have golf?

Never stayed there, but went to Signature for a meal about two years ago. Very nice - would eat there again. No kids - all couples of various ages.

We do a couples getaway at La Cantera fairly often. The secret is to book one of the villas adjacent to the main resort. You get a golf cart for the duration of your stay to enjoy the property at your leisure. The pool and bar at The Villas is never crowded and is a welcome change from the main pool at the resort. Dinner at Signature is a must.

We thought about that for next time. So it's much quieter than the resort side?

Signature is good...

I've been several times. Lots of kids there in the summer. Go during the week once school starts. Most schools in Texas start mid August. I've enjoyed my trips there much more when I went when school was in session.

Hyatt Hill Country Resort In northern part of San Antonio has a golf course. You could stay there or at it's sister property Hyatt Wild Oak Rach down the road. Wild Oak Ranch has condos instead of regular hotel rooms.

Stayed here last year on a work retreat. Got bit by bedbugs and was nervous for a week or two after that those bastards made it to my house, but luckily avoided that headache. We prefer JW Marriott nearby.
