I'll be up in Sevierville area all of next week on a family vacation. Mack Jr. #3 want's to fish while we there. What are my options? Both of us can handle a flyrod, fyi.
I'll hang up and listen, thanks.

Was up there last year about this time, we just found some areas along the West Prong Little Pigeon Forge River to get down at. Ended up catching some smallmouth. Nothing big but was a good time.

You can catch rainbows in the populated areas. There’s a couple of nice pools in the gatlinburg area not too far away that hold wild and stocked fish
Go up into the national park for brook trout.
North Carolina isn’t too far away either. Some really good trout fishing over there.
Caught this wild rainbow behind the peddler steakhouse in gatlinburg

thats a pretty fish! i usually fly fish for bream here in La but i do get up to breckenridge once a year. this would be my first time in the Smokeys. is it the same “match the hatch” strategy?

Pretty much the same. I think bright colors like yellow are good this time of year.

I have fished Rocky fork in flag pond , north and south indian creek near erwin, spivey creek just outside of erwin in march and april when they start stocking the creeks using roostertails. Caught some bigger trout on upper nolichucky toward the trussel. June has good fishing after rains.

Went up there about 8-10 yrs ago for travel ball. Buddy and his youngest son went fishing one or two days and here’s what they did.
They googled and found a local bait shop and went in and talked to the guy running the place told him that he was trying to bring the kid fishing cus he was tired of ballparks. He told them several spots to try and what flys to throw and they caught fish.

I just got back. I caught smallmouth in the river behind the outlet mall. And took my son to Herbert holt park in Gatlinburg. It’s 12 and under in the park. But they have piers that extend in the river. Pretty easy fishing for rainbows. Used spinning gear with either a cork or a split shot on the bottom. Bread or powerbait did the trick.

Fished the Little Pigeon River back in November last year. It was a beautiful place but didn’t see or catch any. Found some brook trout around Emerts Cove.

Check out Herbert Holt Park in Gatlinburg. They used to have a stream just for kids to fish that was heavily stocked with trout.
