Throwing together a little trip with my son and realize I may be a little late to the game. Can I expect to find any relief on flight prices between now and 7/15? Currently looking at $934 for 2 on Delta.

A month out peak season between two delta hubs, I'm unfortunately going to say that might be what it is. I'll take a look later and see if I can find anything better than this

Kinda what I figured. I'm open to other carriers, but not much difference from what I'm seeing. Appreciate you taking a look.

I make this flight all the time with Delta. That’s pretty high for the average, but you are looking to fly to Boston during peak season so that’s not entirely surprising.

Agree it's not awful. Cheaper than my last few trips into MSP for work.

Spirit has flights that would fit our desired schedule. Just a little leery of how screwed we'd be if that departing flight gets canceled. I'd be a little more likely to fly them if I were alone.

Fair.

I will say that ATL is an operating base for Spirit. And looking at the last 11 ATL-BOS Spirit flights, none were canceled, and 3 were delayed with the max delay being ~1hr.

But I totally get the apprehension, I feel the same way about budget airlines.

I'd probably just book spirit and book the big seats up front. Carry-ons will be $45/piece but spend the money on those extra legroom seats and you'll be fine. Save the $$ for the trip itself!

Okay you guys talked me into it. Big seats and a checked bag for ~$200 less than Delta. Appreciate the help.

I booked a nonstop from Lauderdale to Kansas City in August nonstop on spirit. Delta, American, United were all over $175 for a one-way not including seat assignments, carry-ons, etc. Spirit was $75, will take a tiny bag so no carryon and bought the big seat up front, total was $175 and it's refundable. I can manage that for a nonstop on spirit.

Goddammit. Only airline whose backup system is paper.

Came back into ATL today. We were fortunate to only be delayed a couple of hours.

Considering that delta cancelled every BOS-ATL flight except the first four of the morning, consider yourself lucky for booking on spirit

Definitely got lucky. Spirit cancelled 5 or 6 while we were in line. I'll fly them again for sure though. For a tall guy, the big front seats are a game changer, and I didn't really miss free drink service, entertainment, WiFi, etc.
