Looking for ideas for a tropical style vacation for my wife's 50th birthday next October (3rd week). I thought about Key West but it there is a festival i don't want to be part of. Also thought of the Bahama's or even a cruise. Looking to keep it around $5-6k. Hoping to invite several friends to join us as a surprise to her as well so that why i am looking to keep the budget favorable. TIA

Aruba is amazing and not overly expensive.

St. John and no one needs a passport unless you day trip to the BVI. Easy flights too.

Another vote for Aruba. But the first thing I would do is find what locations are available for affordable, direct flights with your preferred airline.

If you want rustic and natural- Costa Rica.
Romantic and chill - Maui or Kawai
Exotic- Phuket
Cheap w/ great beaches- DR/ Mexico

Southwest on occasion has cheap flights to Costa Rica, wife and I went during Mardi Gras. Had a blast. The all inclusive resorts are well below your budget, 6 days was around $3K.

How’s the seaweed? Travel time from airport? Food?

Second Hedonism.
But, if not, how about:
Rendezvous Hotel in Anguilla?
Lower key island. Beautiful beaches.

No seaweed at all. Travel time was about 35-40 minutes from the airport and our driver had a cooler full of cold beer! The food has been amazing… Generally we are easy to please food-wise, but my wife and I have agreed that every meal has over-exceeded expectations
