Staying at Fairmont princess next week for work and have couple free days. Resort looks first class and I’ve never visited this area of the country.

Any tips for things to do in the area close by??

Are opinions of the resort?

Haven't stayed there but have heard good things from those that have. Was in that area for a wedding last year and liked this desert hike so much I did it three times. Great views of Scottsdale from points on the hike.

McDowell Sonoran Preserve - Gateway Loop

Obviously hit it early morning as it gets hot quickly.

Also go to over to Old Scottsdale and kick around. Great restaurants and shops. And there are golf courses galore Northeast of the 101 Hwy. if that's your thing. We were at Troon North and liked it.

We are headed back there in two weeks. It really is a great resort. It's hot as hell right now in Phoenix so we are planning to hang mostly at the pool. They have a program called summer at the Princess. They do dive in movies at the pool which was really fun. If you ave kids there is a buch of stuff for them. The restaurant at the golf course club house was really good last time we were there. I really haven't had a bad meal at any of the restaurants on the property. The spa was top notch.

The 2 times we stayed there were short weekends so we didn't venture off the property. I had some friends recommend Different Point of View Restaurant , Royal Palm, and Malee's Thai Bistro. We may try those while we are out there.

Was in the phoenix area 2x already this year and really enjoyed hiking camelback mountain and piestewa peak within the city. The Superstition Mountains about 30 miles east are drop dead gorgeous. It’s going to be much hotter when you’re there though so any hiking may be a no go

Among Scottsdale resorts, it’s average. I made the mistake of staying at Arizona Biltmore first. Now everything nice is meh.

The best thing about it is the restaurant.

We stayed in the Fairmont Miramar at Santa Monica for our honeymoon. It was our first time at a four star hotel, and it was pretty awesome. The kitchen had incredible and service was excellent.

Can't see I know anything about the Scottsdale location, but I imagine that their brand is pretty powerful and works across most, if not all of their locations.
