2 of my golf buddy's decided they wanted new irons, so we did a early lunch and went to the PGASS .
What's interesting, one was determined to get a set of AiSmoke irons based on what he had read online.
The other guy wanted either the Ping 530's or the Mizuno forged. I just sat back and watched after they worked thru different club heads and shafts in different hitting bays.
The important thing was both guys wanted to have their initial choices validated by the data.
When it was all said and done. Both guys independently decided on the Srixon X5 irons. One with Nippon shafts and one with KBS Tour Lite.
The launch monitor numbers were there as far as distance and accuracy. I never would have believed these final results since the were so locked in on other brands.
Just shows that being fitted by a qualified fitter can yield good results if you have a open mind to the process.

It boggles me that people go into these fittings "set" on a certain brand. Let the data speak for itself.

I was wanting the ai smoke, the pro tour irons were better for me out of the Callaway line.
I hit the Qi irons from TaylorMade the next day and hit them even better.

We all fall victim to great marketing in some form or fashion every day.
After I closed my business down, I worked for 2 of the most iconic brands in the world. It was amazing to be on the inside and see how great companies can cultivate generations of consumers.
It's nice that at a proper fitting, we can test apples to apples.

I was set on a certain make and model based on hitting a friends for a couple of rounds because I was contemplating buying his. Went to the fitting open minded and came home with a totally different make and model and couldn’t be happier other than now I think my 120g stiff are not as feel worthy since I’ve hit his newest ones with the 90g graphite.

I haven't hit them but a guy at the fitting today told me that the new Fuji Axiom iron shafts are super stout to flex.

Years ago me and my BIL went to get fitted for a driver. We both wanted the brand new TM R1. We hit so many drivers and after everyone we hit the R1. We wanted to love it so bad we just hated it and hit it so bad. I got fitted for a RBZ stage 2 which was a great driver for me. He got fitted with a cobra. He didn’t want a cobra. A week later he told me he ordered the R1. Played with him a couple of weeks after that and I asked how he liked his R1. He said he hates it. Then pulled it out of his bag on the first tee box lol. Always go in with an open mind.

Those were awesome. Everyone i knew that had one could knock the shite out of it, even the really high handicappers. I had the 3 wood and i could murder that thing.

They were rocket launchers. Just gave the 3 and 5 wood away yesterday to my coworkers son who’s learning to play. I had the high launch models. You would be hard pressed to find easier fairway woods to get up in the air of the deck. Switched to a lower launching and lower spin woods. Still have the 4 hybrid but I’ll be changing that out to something. Just need to go get fitted for something to replace it. I’d like to get away from a hybrid. I tend to randomly hook them at the worst times.
