Your usage of “day 1” starter is more of an NFL application. Hardly anyone is a day 1 starter in MLB.

He wasn’t a Day One starter at LSU. Josh Pearson started the season at 2B.

Tell me though, was even Skenes, possibly the GOAT, a day 1 guy… or are you going to discredit his time in the minors? My point stands. It’s a term used for quarterbacks haha. Alls I’m sayin’…

Its not our fault you left out any and all context clues as to whom you were referring to. Very few people here would disagree with you that Milam is very very good. We simply had no idea he was the subject of your post.

To be fair, I think Skenes could’ve gone straight from Omaha to Pittsburgh the next day and hold his own. Of course, that was never going to happen because of service time clocks and not wanting to rush a generational talent.
But just because he pitched in the minors doesn’t mean he wasn’t already better than some MLB pitchers
