Passed by legacy the other day and got to thinking how cool it would be to rebuild that course with modern architecture and and club amenities. I was wondering what the layou looked like before it closed down, and really at any point in time for that matter. Does anyone have a link or some kind of picture of a layout there?

What do you mean by modern architecture and club amenities? Just curious.

Larger greens, longer holes, in the context that the original course may have been an older traditional design. The clubhouse is a little drab now, but updating with a nice pro shop with modern products, club fitting equipment, top level practice areas, etc.

Would nice to see it back open and modernized. But the neighborhood around it is getting worse and worse.

Had a lot of tight tree lined holes and I feel like damn near every hole had the ditch in play. Was probably 20-25 years ago since I played it though

Was a member back in the day and I’ll go hit balls there every now and then. Although I’ve never been to Somalia, the neighborhood around that area gives me that vibe.

I was a member. Good course with plenty of tough holes that could test your game. Par 5s on the back were easy birdies, but 13 was one of the harder par 4s in BR. There was not room to expand the course. It would have been better by making 10 and 14 par 4s and the course par 70.

It has really killed golf in BR that Sherwood. Fairwood, and Shenendoah CCs all closed. They were all reasonably affordable for memberships. I pretty much stopped playing when Sherwood closed.

As a stand alone club, it wouldn’t make it. But BREC could have taken it over, maintained it and it would certainly have been an option. It would have taken some play away from Santa Maria that would help it.
