Couple years ago I had the last Spirit flight to MSY from DFW. It got cancelled and of course, there were no Spirit employees to talk to at the ticket counter to see about getting me on another flight home. Same for their 1-800 customer service line. So, I ubered over to Love Field and grabbed a SWA one way to MSY. Luckily I carried on my bag so no need to worry about luggage, but I don’t think I ever got a refund or voucher from Spirit. So, frick Spirit.

This is exactly why I will never fly Spirit even if it’s half the price of another airline. Not worth the hassle and the 3-4 times I fly per year I want them to be as enjoyable as possible.
