I went to college in nearby Lexington. Seems like a much better option to me. Small walkable downtown. College town. Very historic. Land prices still reasonable.
I've often thought that a great retirement gig would be to grow an apple orchard in the Shenandoah Valley and watch the apples turn red in the fall. And then not give a shite if anyone ever came to buy them or not.

Hearing the hills around Windfall (RIP) have become fertile with retiree homes. Hope East Lex is still running tabs.
