A bigger gas generator isn't in the budget for 2024 so I am looking to spend a few hundred bucks on a solar generator. Big enough to charge phones and portable fans in power outage situations.
Any recs?

You can get a small inverter generator for about the same price as a solar one and have 3x the capacity.

You can get a predator inverter generator from harbor freight for $500 that is super quiet and would power a small portable ac and your fridge.
It will be more reliable, effiecient and powerful than any solar crap you can find.

Pro of a battery inverter- small package, lightweight, no gas, very portable.
Cons - expensive, will only last a few hours
I bought a harbor freight inverter generator that’s dual fuel. At half load it will run 12+ hours. Very quiet. Has wheels on it. 5000W. Less than $1000.
If you must have a battery inverter…… GoalZero, Bluetti, Jackery make some good ones.

As others have mentioned, a generator is a better investment. The solar will definitely not be there when you really need it.

I have a Jackery explorer 500. Used it just the other night for my CPAP when the storms rolled through.
