Reduced muzzle rise/recoil, but really it's just to make noise at the gun range.

I like the way they look. I have two revolvers with ported barrels (357 and 44). Yeah they’re fricking loud. The loudness of 357 makes it not an ideal home defense weapon IMO.

My 586 L comp is very pleasant to shoot with full power 357 loads.
