Do what you want, it's s free country. But if you believe it's a miracle weight loss pill and there won't be any side effects I have some ocean front property in Nebraska you would be interested in that comes with a bottle of snake oil that'll solve baldness.
Wrong. Been around for decades. Extremely safe and studied over time. This drug targets a deficiency of an existing hormone. Obesity is largely(but not entirely) driven by a deficiency of GLP-1, a naturally occurring hormone in our bodies. GLP-1 agonists trigger the increase of production of this hormone to make it rise to more normal levels.
Think about it differently. If your AC stopped cycling on when the temp rose too far above the temp setting, would you get that fixed? Of course. Wegovy(and other GLP-1 agonists) simply do the same thing. They intervene to fight the natural deficiency.
When a patient has a GLP-1 deficiency, the sensation of hunger is not regulated properly and patients report “food noise.” For most, this “food noise” is not able to be overcome by will power, fad diets, “move more eat less,” etc.
Bariatric surgeries and medical weight loss treatment(GLP-1 agonists) change the hormonal balance in the body.
If you have heart disease, and you take pills to minimize the chances of a cardiac event, would you one day stop taking those pills because they had been working? Of course not. Medical treatment is needed perpetually for chronic disease. Obesity is a chronic disease. It now has a treatment that is becoming more widely accepted and actually works. Lifetimes of failure in fighting this disease with conventional and wrong approaches has conditioned people to think something like this can’t be without a catastrophic price to pay. Well, penicillin and ibuprofen had similar reactions when they were first discovered and developed for the masses.
Sadly, old thinking still dies hard for many.

You seem to know alot about this and have read into it a bit….so you probably know more than I do….
I have a question

You mentioned processed foods in your first post. Is there a direct correlation between processed food and the lack of GLP-1? Or is it just genetic?

will these drugs eventually be prescribed for people who have binge eating disorder (BED)?
