re: Today I found out people bring speakers to listen to music out on the golf course

Never heard once anyone ever even suggest we bust music out on the course. Absolutely insane to me.
We just had our member member tournament this weekend and I would say 88/90 teams had music going during the rounds. A couple of 80+ old guys don’t like it and will ask you to turn it off otherwise everyone is cool with it.
I bet you also don’t drink during rounds

I rarely notice people with a speaker
So either it is low and I don't notice or people don't do it much around here

The generation before you are the ones responsible for this. Millennials are the ones.

Don’t drink. Don’t play golf with friends. Lower-middle class. Don’t listen to music while you play.
Hard pass for me.

Everyone’s been blasting music for 10+ years
If you’re playing it and I can’t hear it in the next fairway no harm no foul.
If I can I’m going to ask the marshal to have you turn it down.
At that point you get 3 options. Like it, lump it, leave.
You want it loud? Put in some earbuds and play it on them.

Has anyone encountered this in real life?
I mostly walk so carrying extra stuff is not interesting to me.
I hear it, but I guess I’m sort of used to it.
Seems like the cool guys do it mostly.
I don’t try to control what others do. I can’t hear very well so it does not really bother me.

ETA: drinking is another one that I knew people would do but I have no desire to. But I also never drink except at like Mardi Gras or football games
I don’t mind people drinking, but IF you have to piss on every hole like a guy did at the last member guest, maybe go to shots instead of beer.
We have some behavioral issues with people getting shitfaced just because the alcohol is “free” at some club events. I guess some guys just look at it like a “spring break” or “cruise ship” like situation.
I’ve had a beer on the course. It was fine. I lose coordination when I get drunk so I don’t have too much. Most of the time I don’t have any because I’m walking most of the time. Hard to stay hydrated mixing alcohol into the system.

My game doesn't quite get going good until a few beers. It seems to relax me and lets my swing flow without much tension. Then it goes to shite after a sixer or more. Our group has bluetooths, only loud enough for the occupants in the cart. One of the players is young and plays some rap, country and old rock and roll. Sam Rayburn in Tx had speakers built in with choices of music stations.

Sounds like you could have 2 a side and play great.

You sound like you need to go play a couple rounds at a public course If you want peace & quiet, go fishing.. or on a hike in the woods.. I thought golf was supposed to be about having fun.
When I was living in NOLA I was playing at Bayou Oaks. Never heard music. Back in NOVA I’ve been playing public courses.
I’ve never actually played on a private course before. Nicest course I’ve played was just at my honeymoon at the resort we stayed at, but it’s still open to the public.
Just have never ever heard anyone playing music from a speaker while playing golf, and nobody I golf with has ever brought it up like it’s something that happens.

I just said that I don’t in my earlier post. But I know that’s something people do. I just don’t.

Any friends I know that golf have never done this or even asked about it if we have golfed together. Nor my brothers friends and he is a much more social golfer.
This must be a trashy person thing or something.

No way this is a serious post.. I like a little music on a recreational round.. I won't play it loud because what I like listening to someone else might not..
Can't tell you how many times I hear some dingle douche hackers bro country garbage turned up to 11 from 2 fairways over.. That's aggravating and makes me want to hit
stingers in their direction..

I promise you it is. Been golfing since I was little and regularly and on my own since I graduated college. Not super socially but like I said with my family and occasionally my brothers friends. Never ever even heard someone suggest we bust music out. We’re in our 20s. Never even run across someone playing music on the course near us. Totally foreign to me.
Ive always known golf as a game of quiet and peace. I figured until this thread that music of any kind would be grounds for immediate ejection from even public courses.
ETA: again this has to be a trashy person thing. I cannot imagine playing golf and thinking music would help the experience or make it more enjoyable.

This is either the greatest troll post in golf board history or you live with your mom still. Loosen up a little. Its going to be okay if people listen to music, have a few beers, and enjoy their time on the course away from real life. Also zero percent chance you have never seen this.

Agreed. Have never seen this anywhere I've played. But I guess wherever these guys are claiming it's common are munis. ??
