I keep about half my property in Hammond wild and there’s a pretty big creek running behind me so I have plenty of snakes. I rarely see them unless I go looking for them and then they are pretty easy to find.
18 years here, have never seen or found a water moccasin or a rattlesnake. Plenty of copperheads though they are seasonal. Kings, garters, dekays, rats, water snakes and corn snakes aplenty.
OP is a puss
rando is FOS

Two things...
City folk fish ponds.
With one exception I can think of, the triangular shaped head is a dead give away.
We no longer see chicken snakes, blue runners, or speckled kings around here. Yet, Ive had multiple large rattle snakes in the yard, my chair , and around the shop. Same goes for moccasins. When the water rises they get into the back pasture. The water falls, they are slow to leave because of all the mice.
