Nice...
This is a potentially wild subject.
This entire continent is full of already built out road systems, phantom developments and cul-de-sacs, runaways, canals and lakes that shouldn't be there even in developed areas like FL, NJ and NY -- as well as in desolate areas like NV, UT, and even in Louisiana AND Upper Canada.
Are you familiar with Jon Levi?

I don't get how the google car fit right next to that car. The pooper's car is taking up the lane. How would the google car have even fit past it to get that photo

There’s a pond on the north side of the landfill in Welsh that used to be home to the Diamond W hunting lodge in the shape of their brand.
It’s now owned by the Columbian “sugarcane farmers” (money launderers) who got a free sugarcane mill from your former state ag commissioner, Bob Odom, whenever there was zero sugarcane being grown within 100 miles.

Mom and dad are always doing something odd on weekends that we’re not in town.
Rarely do their shenanigans get caught on a Google Maps image.

There used to be a lot of street view pics of drug deals going down
I imagine spending some time conducting street views in Baltimore and Philly would produce some gold.

I passed by there just a few weeks ago. Could have been me.

In the early days of commercial aviation and air mail service, airplane pilots relied upon light beacons and enormous concrete arrows on the ground to find their way across the country. These navigation aids were built by the Department of Commerce in the 1920s and early 1930s to promote air travel.
Eventually more than 1500 beacons were erected. They were spaced about 10 to 20 miles apart along designated air routes.
The 1st picture is just outside of Albuquerque.

There is a visible navigation arrow just south of Las Vegas in Enterprise NV. It is just east of Interstate 15 near Combat Zone Paintball.
I challenge you to find it.

San Jose Island near Rockport,TX a privately owned island with its own natural gas wells and generator. They do not export any oil or gas from the island. Standard Oil assisted them with construction and consultation during the construction. The island was originally purchased by Sid Richardson, the oil and land baron. Here they entertained FDR and other dignitaries and diplomats from around the world. The Bass family inherited it and has since put in their own private airport capable of landing a Cessna citation that will get them from their estate near Dallas in about an hour. The fishing near the island is some of the best on the coast.

Really interesting reading pertaining to the construction of the main house with the outside spiral staircase.
The Bass’ were Richardson’s nephews. He put them on the island and said build the house with sand and oyster shells. That’s what they did. Made their own masonry mix and built the house.
Thet wound up inheriting everything and multiplied the fortune exponentially with the help of a guy named Rainwater.
Another oil baron had the next island South. They could drive to each other depending if the cut between islands was filled in.
I’ve seen pictures of them with FDR on the beach in their touring car.

found a random runway in the middle of the Everglades
That’s a big-arse runway too. 10,500’ long.
That’s the size you see at most Class Bravo airports for the big boys.

This would have been some top secret stuff at one time.
I kid you not, when I was in the military in the late 80’s I saw this stuff because I had a TS security clearance. Actually, three levels above TS because I saw the humint that was related to it.

Used to be able to switch between sat providers and time travel . See development and older sites. Would really like a searchable database of older sat maps. I could spend hours looking at maps of all kinds. It's strangely interesting and relaxing.

It’s quite incredible.
Technology is amazing and changes so many aspects of life…makes you realize that invention is the mother of invention; not necessity as the old adage says.
