quote:
California farmland is the single largest food producer in the US. Kansas isn't even in the top 5. Though they are catching up in murders, pretty soon they might challenge louisana or mississippi for the crown!
You know I really don't have a dog in this fight and I'm just sorta following along in the thread, but it always trips people out a little and even makes some folks angry when they find out the State of California is far and away our nation's largest agricultural producer.

From a site called FarmProgress Can't get the link to work.
What US states produce the most food? (Ranking 1-50)
California ranks first in the U.S. for agricultural cash receipts followed by Iowa, Texas, Nebraska and Illinois.
California, $58 billion
Iowa, $44.7 billion
Nebraska, $31.6 billion
Texas, $29.7 billion
Illinois, $27.9 billion
Minnesota, $26 billion
Kansas, $23.5 billion
Indiana, $18.3 billion
North Carolina, $16.8 billion
Wisconsin, $16.6 billion
Safe to say Cali is the biggest producer.
