This looks pretty good, I loved Lollapalooza. Went in 1992, 93 and 94.
Official Trailer
Along with Farrell, the docu-series will feature interviews from Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Flea, Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails, Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello, Lars Ulrich of Metallica, Ice-T, Chance the Rapper, and many more.
Premieres on Paramount+
ETA- trailer gives me chills with Mountain Song playing.
Official Trailer
quote:
”When Lolla was launched in 1991, the concert industry felt like a boring car ride that was running out of gas. We pumped new life into the live music experience and set the foundation for the youth’s counter culture to become important and exciting again,” Farrell said of the show in a statement. “Now more than three decades young, I am happy to have this opportunity to give people an inside look at the festival’s contribution to music history.”

Looks good, but damn, when did Peripheral start looking like late-stage Freddie Mercury?

my body is ready.
i still remember first hearing about it and we were in line the second the tickets went on sale for the Dallas show.
didn't have 2 pennies to rub together but i managed to scrape enough for gas money to get from houston to dallas and even enough leftover to buy a tshirt (which I still have).
it was a FANTASTIC moment. it felt like something that had never been done before and i still get goosebumps thinking of body count, violent femmes, NIN, siouxsie (before i got to hang with her), living color, butthole surfer...it was nonstop entertainment.
crowd went absolutely BATSHIT during the body count show then perry came out after dark with that 2 story scarecrow behind him on the stage and i was pretty..ahh...'into' things by then and it felt like the best thing i had ever done up to that point in my life.
i know..exaggeration, blah blah but shite. you had to be there. idiots in the grass setting fires left and right; so many water bottles being tossed into the air it looked like a swarm of giant wasps..guy in front of us faceplanting and dropping an entire sheet of acid which the girls with me snatched off the ground and stuffed in their purse IMMEDIATELY.
i went with 3 crazy arse chicks; one was part native american and had her hair done up in corn-rows and i had some really fun times with them. i can't imagine a better 'just out of college' experience than houston in the early 1990s hanging with 3 chicks who knew ABSOLUTELY EVERY NOOK AND DEVIANT CRANNY in the entire houston area.
i was going out about 6x a week.
in fact, its one of those girls who insisted i go to EMOs on a random tuesday night after siouxsie had performed at the Unicorn and we go into a literal empty bar then 5 minutes later..here comes siouxsie and her entire band and we got to hang with them all night. just me, my girl Apache (that was her nickname i gave her), siouxsie and budgie.
CSB, CAD.

That is a CSB. Thank you for sharing. I was unfortunately too young to experience all of that at the time, so I am jealous.
I'm exciting about this doc. The 90s were remarkable and I love revisiting shite like this.

we all rocked alternative band logos and club stickers on our vehicles so there was no doubt who was who on the road and the drive from hou to dall was just a big fun party of honking at all the other cars going to the same place...driving inches away from the car in the other lane going 70mph and exchanging cans of beer and liquor..
as dark and alternative as some of this was back in the day, there was a real comradery within the community..felt like everyone was a friend; much different than today. we were all drunk on the excitement of the road trip and we overtook that interstate between the 2 cities the day before the show.
great times.

That is a CSB. I love reading stories like that. The early 90’s were a blast. To be young again. Wild and free.
I was at the Dallas Show in ‘94
Drove up from Hammond. Did a little sight seeing the next day. Dealey Plaza and this cool restaurant called Dicks. I remember it so well cuz the waiter was a “dick” on purpose.

So you really like the dick?

It definitely revitalized the concert scene at the time.
