After watching the video, I don't know what on earth that dude was thinking answering the door with a gun in his hand so casually like that. I mean, the deputy yelled SHERRIF'S OFFICE multiple times. The last time he yelled it the guy had to have been right behind the door because he opens it up seconds after. There is no way he didn't hear what the Sherriff said. Even if he thought that it was someone trying to rob him or harm him, why would you open your door at all? Just an incredibly bad move by him.

I guess you’ve never tried to communicate with someone behind a closed door. Sometimes it’s hard to hear. This cop royally screwed up and there’s no good defense of this

The video proves once again that Ben Crump lies about EVERY case he is involved with. Crump claimed:

1) Cop had the wrong apartment.
2) Cop "busted down the door."

Both claims are demonstrably, provably, bullshite. Cop was told to go to 1401 and he knocked on 1401. Cop did not "bust down the door" but knocked and yelled "Sheriff's department" twice. The suspect voluntarily opened the door.

Now I don't know if the witness had the right apartment, but the Cop himself went exactly where he was told (he is not a psychic, he has to rely on witnesses). Even if it was the wrong apartment, you can't open a door on a Cop with a gun in your hand. You just can't. It's foolish.

By the way, this SAME exact situation happened a couple weeks ago but it didn't make the news. I guess it didn't make the news because the perp was not black (I believe he was Asian). Here's the video of the other incident:
