Whatever you have to selectively tell yourself

I'm a huge Milazzo fan, but I'm not sure he should ever be inserted into a lineup bc of his bat.
He does have good at bats against SEC pitching, though. He can work a count and if he doesn't draw a walk or get a little single up the middle, he's usually getting the pitcher to throw about 10 pitches. That's also huge because we've had trouble working counts at times this year.
In a season where our pitchers have struggled with control at times, Milazzo is greatly needed behind the plate. He gives pitchers the confidence to throw whatever pitch because they know he's most likely going to stop it. Can't say the same about a Neal or Trav.
Last night was a good example of that. Sure, Neal gave us the early lead, but then he helped give it right back up with a couple of bad passed balls.

the problem is 3 of those last 6 are UNO, Grambling and NWST.
If it were milazzo, the opponent does not matter
Cause we’ve been there before
There’s just not a ton Neal can do to win fan approval. If milazzo lets a ball get by him, which happens frequently, it’s the pitchers fault. When it happens to Neal, he can’t catch

I get your point. the milazzo love is exaggerated and so is the Neal hate. They especially turn a blind eye to any defensive issues.
But you can’t ignore that Milazzo is getting on base and hitting well.
in SEC play he has our 4th highest OB%. getting goes in at the end of the lineup is important. we just don’t have enough baserunners.

travinski’s defense is better than Neal’s. At least compared to Neal’s defense recently

Well he could start by catching the ball as the position of catcher calls for and hitting .132 vs SEC pitching won't endear him to anyone.

the Neal outfield experiment didn't work so well

Neal is definitely the future at C but he needs to tighten up his defense and prove he can hit SEC pitching. Feels like he might coming around at the plate.
As far as catching, Neal has 4 passed balls and 4 errors. Maybe some errors were in RF but I’ve seen him throw away a couple balls at catcher. Milazzo has 1 PB and zero errors. If you watch them receive it’s obvious Milazzo is the better catcher right now.
