Well that is fine and dandy. Trump is on trial for a felony not for his morality. That is a problem. Whether you like Trump or not it should terrify everyone with lawfare being used against any citizen.

And it being a felony is fricky to begin with.
The thrust of this is that a misdemeanor where the statute of limitations expired is a felony because of other laws which aren’t normally prosecuted by the state. The feds normally handle campaign stuff and chose to pass on this.
