Everything about the abduction was horrifying. Absolutely horrifying.
Everything else in this movie sucked.
Ebert said it great. You should have more alien abduction in your alien abduction movie.

I saw this as an under 10 year old.
Scared the absolute crap out of me.

Thought it was an excellent movie.

I rewatched this a month or two ago. I hadn't seen it in forever. I still thought it was pretty good.
That's a ridiculous take IMO. The movie is about Travis Walton's story. He was only abducted once, and that whole scene (and subsequent scenes/flashbacks) are incredibly well done.
It's pretty fascinating to see/hear him talk about it. I don't really believe it to be real, but whatever actually happened to him, he certainly seems to believe it was real. Same with people like Bob Lazar. Maybe they are con men, but they come across as completely credible to me despite me not fully buying into that stuff being real.

My cabin in Heber-Overgaard, AZ is less than a mile from the phone booth where Walton called for help after the "alleged" abduction. The phone booth is a popular attraction with tourists.
