This may be an easy identification, but I don't know shite and need some help. What is this spreading across my backyard and what's the best way to get rid of it and prevent it from coming back?

The top picture is an oak, maybe live oak. Dig it up carefully and transplant it.
It is hard to tell much about the bottom pic.

I think it's all the same. There's a live oak you can see the trunk of in the bottom pic. I never knew live oaks spread out like that.

Not spreading, just a ton of acorns doing their thing.

So it's sounding like I need to dig / pull them up and not let the acorns sit and sprout them up.
Thanks for the quick responses.

It would be cool if you had someone to give those saplings to. I just helped a friend of mine transplant twenty oak saplings that we dug up a few weeks ago. Amazingly, all of them seem to have made it, at least thus far.

pull them up, put in pot, sell on line for like $20 a piece, profit. Live oaks cost some money.

yep.
we are about to propagate about 15 dragonfruit plants. They sell on etsy from $25-$45 a pop.
The ones we are about to cut are 12" - 16" in length. Easy money

Nope haha, my parents have multiple live oaks on their property and never saw it happen there.

Some oaks have those thorn-like features on their leaves. It can be more pronounced on young trees.
