Action movies with female leads, with a few rare exceptions, suck
You mean some of the greatest action movies of all time?
Gender isn’t the problem, it’s when you try to make it all about that primarily without giving a damn about the character itself when it becomes the problem.

The writing in the ST is absolutely a huge part of the problem.
I think the biggest issue with all None OT star wars movies is too that they’re too focused on Jedis.
Jedis are space nerds. The Jedi Order is the Catholic Church. The only thing cool about them is lightsabers.
The OT had the right balance of spaceship fights and non Jedi main characters.
That’s why Andor and Mandolorian are great properties. They aren’t all space nerds briefly interrupted by awesome sword fights

It's when they try to make women men. All of the examples listed above include female leads who fill the role as action heroes while maintaining their femininity. Their motivations are feminine motivations surrounding motherhood, etc, which make them believable. They aren't just cast as women (who are basically just dudes with tits) whose motivations are just being super badass boss bitches.
