It still does, the costs of staples has risen, but not matching the cost of prepared food.
Didn't say that it wasn't, just that you are getting less return than you used to relative to your budget.

They should be doing it for economical reasons. Stats show that younger generation eats out 30% more often than any generation prior.
Other studies, like the one posted earlier in this thread also state that more millennials are cooking at home due to health reasons and are cooking an average of 5-6 times per week.
Also the "don't eat out" line is not an apples to apples comparison for a variety of reasons. There was a time when a man could go to work with a high school education and support his family while his wife stayed home. She had ample time to cook the meals, clean the house, and bring the kids to and from school. The man would come home from work and have a meal already prepped because the wife had time to prepare the meal throughout the afternoon.
Now both spouses have to work to scrape by and do not get home until 6:00 at night. Sorry that these lazy millennials don't have time to make a 4 hour meal in 45 minutes. It's not long after that that it's time for baths and getting the little ones ready for bed. And that doesn't account for the folks who have multiple jobs to keep up with inflation because they've essentially taken 10-15% inflation pay cuts year over year.
Growing up in a generation where a man could make 40k a year and support a family of five while his wife didn't have to work and comparing that to today's economic climate is disingenuous at best and deceitful at worst. We all wish we could make enough to have our wives stay home and june cleaver it up for us but the economic conditions do not allow that............
WHICH IS THE ENTIRE POINT THAT WE'RE MAKING!

The apartment I posted was to prove a point that there are places available for less than $200k anywhere you want. Someone may want a 500sf apartment in the best part of Houston. You might not but someone may. Someone may want a 70’s ranch outside of town. You might not but someone may.
And again, I asked then to be specific of a location and was told just something somewhere in Houston.
But the wholesale “there is nothing available anywhere” is bs.

Pro-Tip--Do not marry a woman that does not have some sort of a career and a reasonable way to contribute financially.
Because if you get a divorce, you will get butt fricked in a totally unholy manner.
15 years ago, I got divorced. 1100/month child support and 700/month spousal support. For 1 kid in 2009. On top of half of my retirement forever (she won't remarry just because of that).
If your woman doesn't or won't get a job, do not marry her.

quote:Looking at labor statistics it will show that the majority of retired folks over 75 have almost 8 hours of leisure time a day. Millennials report 5.5 hours a day of leisure time. It took me 15 minutes to put red beans and sausage in a crock pot yesterday prior to leaving home. 10 minutes to prepare cornbread and make rice. Today it will be a 9.00 chuck roast that took 3 minutes to drop in pot and will make mashed potatoes and some frozen vegetalbes in about 20 minutes of time. This dramatic bullcrap of needing 4 hours to make a meal is laughtable.
