My atv isnt keeping my agm battery charged up. Is it more likely needing a new voltage Regulator/ Rectifier or needing a new Stator. TIA for the help

I had this problem on my 2006 grizzly. I used meter to test rectifier and it showed to be good, so I changed the stator. Still didn't work. I ordered a cheap rectifier and problem solved. If I had to do it again, I would just get a cheap rectifier to try first, since it is much easier than changing the stator. Rectifier is plug and play, takes 5 minutes to change. Stator required lots of disassembling.

Also had the same rectifier issue on my grizzly. Even a cheap Chinese one is worth a shot.

usually the regulator, but if the regulator doesnt have a good solid connection to ground they it wont tell it to charge. make sure it has a good bare metal connection to the frame, then test volts at battery to see if its charging
i know a guy who thought it was a good idea to clean up the rust behind his and paint the frame all nice and pretty. then he had no ground connection due to the paint he added so it stopped charging. he damn near cried when i ground off that paint to bare metal again but it fixed it.
the rust on the connection to frame from regulator rectifiers is something you cannot avoid if you want it to work properly
you need a test meter to check voltages to see where the issue is

I've replaced 3 on my bike (Polaris) and it's better to replace the Stator and Rectifier/Regulator at the same time.

My son has a 2008 Grizzly 700 that i rebuilt. I thought I read online that starting in 2009, Yamaha added external tubing to the stator cover that would force oil flow over the stator for cooling. This was due to overheating stator failures.
