It seems like for the last 20 years I've received a notice that Louisiana Legislature is about to vote on and do away with the WEP and SS Offset provisions. However, nothing seems to ever happen as the resolution or bill just vanishes into thin air.

Can anyone tell me if this has a shot of finally being resolved and doing away with this crap, and is Landry cool with it if it somehow hits his desk for signature as follows:

HCR 20 was reported favorably in the Senate Retirement and is scheduled for consideration on the Senate Floor on Monday, May 6. HCR 20 by Rep. Johnson memorializes Congress to review and eliminate the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and Government Pension Offset (GPO) by supporting H.R. 82 and S. 597 of the 118th Congress.

The Windfall Elimination isn't a state law, it's federal. It's the federal government's attempt to strongarm states into joining the Social Security scam by getting their employees pissed about missing out on SS money they earned while in the private sector.

It's nothing more than a formal request on behalf of the state legislature to ask Mike Johnson to push Garret Graves' bill through to eliminate the penalty. It's no different than the legislature recognizing an artist for a song they made.
